Snitchproof Guard privacy policy
Guard checks what you are about to send to an AI assistant, on your device. It makes no network requests, has no servers, no account and no analytics, and it never stores or sends what you write.
Applies to the Snitchproof Guard browser extension, version 1.0 and later. Last updated 23 October 2026.
What Guard reads
Only on the sites you switch on (you choose each one; Guard has no site access when it is installed), and only to check it:
- the text in the message box as you type, and text you paste into it;
- files you attach there (text, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and ZIP files) and their names;
- the assistant's replies on the page, only to find the placeholders or made-up details Guard put in your message, so it can show you the reply with your own details put back.
Anywhere else, Guard reads a page only when you ask it to: text you select and send to Guard with “Check with Snitchproof”, or the page you are on when you press Guard's toolbar button or shortcut. Text or files you paste or drop into Guard's side panel are read there.
Where the work happens
Every check runs inside the extension, on your device. Nothing you write, attach or receive is sent anywhere: not to Snitchproof, not to anyone else. Guard contains no code that contacts a server, loads nothing from the internet, and works with the network switched off. Once a check is done, its text is forgotten.
What Guard keeps, on your device
In the browser's extension storage on this device (never synced to other devices, never sent):
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your settings: the warning level, any pause and when it ends, four on/off switches, whether details are hidden as placeholders or made-up details, and the sites where Enter always sends | So Guard behaves as you set it |
| Your private words (a client's name or a codename you added), as keyed fingerprints with a masked hint of their first letters, such as “P•••••• B••••••”, and their kind | To recognise them in a message without keeping the words |
| Details you chose not to be warned about again, as keyed fingerprints with a masked hint: first letters, the ending of an email address, the last two digits of a phone number | To stop flagging them, and so you can see and remove them |
| How many messages were checked, sends held and details replaced, per day for the last seven days: numbers only | The week shown in the side panel |
The fingerprints are made with a random key created on your device and stored next to them. Guard never keeps your messages, files, replies, keys or passwords. Which placeholder or made-up detail stood for which of your details is kept only in that tab's memory, and is gone when you reload or close the tab. Keys and passwords are never remembered or put back.
You can clear the counts, remove private words and allowed details in Guard's settings. Removing the extension deletes everything it kept.
What Guard changes
Guard changes your message or a file only when you click to, never sends a message on its own, and writes to the clipboard only when you press Copy.
Permissions
| Permission | What for |
|---|---|

scripting | Running Guard's checks on the sites you switched on, and reading or replacing message-box text when you ask |

sidePanel, contextMenus, alarms | The side panel, “Check with Snitchproof” and the pause menu, and ending a timed pause on time |
